Despite the name, it is not closely related with the Giant Panda, nor related to raccoon, despite its appearance.
It is an arboreal mammal that lives in the forests of Himalayas, and feeds mostly on birds, eggs, bamboo, and insects.
They are threatened with habitat loss, as they are dependent on tree canopies. Poaching is also a major threat, as some parts of China poach them for their soft fur, while other areas poach them to trade them off to India for an extremely high dollar value and are kept as pets.
This Red Panda is a dusty pink/ purple gradient with white fur patches.
