Also known as the "Moon Bear", they are often hunted for their body parts used in Eastern medicinal use. They are arboreal bears and therefore deforestation/ loss of habitat is also a contributor to their decline, mainly due to rapid human development in areas where the bears frequent (In China provinces).
Bear Bile farming in countries such as South Korea continue to operate legally and as many as 1700 individuals are in bear farms, where as few as 20 individuals reside in the Korea's Jirisan National Park.
Jars are 2" DIA, 3.5"H. Stained porcelain and glazed interior. Name and IUCN Status written at bottom of jar.
